A woman accused of attempting to kill her husband with a bleach and coffee concoction has been seen adding a "liquid" into the coffee machine.

Roasted nuts were allegedly replaced with acidic chemicals by Melody Felicano Johnson, who was arrested in August and charged with the attempted murder of Roby Johnson. She had previously filed for divorce but they lived together while the process was finalised.

A series of hidden cameras were set up by Roby, suspicious of his wife after noticing his coffee had tasted odd. He began to suspect his wife was attempting to bump him off in an attempt to claim his life insurance policy.

One camera eventually caught Ms Johnson in the act, pouring a mystery substance from a large bottle into a smaller container before adding it into the coffee machine. The alleged poison plot was caught right on camera.

Roby also filmed himself testing the water inside the coffee machine, using a swimming pool testing kit to take a pH reading of the water. His results indicated there was an extremely high level of chlorine in the water.

Not only was the water riddled with chlorine and other harmful chemicals, but Roby says his coffee machine "stinks" of bleach, the Daily Mail reported. Mandy is set to appear before the court on November 6.

She had previously been indicted by a grand jury on charges of first-degree attempted murder, attempting to commit aggravated assault and poisoning food or drink. Melody, who had recently bought a house in the Philippines, was ruled as a flight risk.

Following his round-up of evidence, Johnson returned to police and showed the recordings. It prompted a search warrant on the home and Melody's arrest.

Officers believe the coffee pot also smelt like bleach, with Roby playing up the potential poisoning by pretending to drink the coffee so as not to raise suspicions. It is now believed Melody was trying "to collect death benefits" on her husband.
