AEW star CJ Perry says infection could have been fatal in hospital update

AEW star CJ Perry has revealed her recent infection battle could have been “fatal” as she gave fans an update on her health.

The former WWE star took to Instagram to post video and photos of her going up for surgery on the infection, which began in her finger.

She had previously shared photos of the heavily swollen finger after the infection spread to her arm. In the initial posts about being hospitalised, she did not reveal the cause of the infection. However, Perry has now revealed it was caused by a splinter.

Writing on Instagram yesterday (December 19), Perry wrote: “I have been in the hospital since Saturday fighting a fatal infection that came from getting a small splinter backstage at work this past Wednesday.

“Please keep me in your prayers. And everyone really take care of any cuts you get. As small as a splinter can turn into a deadly infection. Love all of you guys and thank you to everyone who has reached out.”

Fans were delighted to see an update from Perry as videos showed her eating following surgery.

One fan said: “I’m so glad you are recovering well! These infections are no joke. So much love to you beautiful.”

While others simply said they were continuing to pray for her speedy recovery.

Earlier in the week indie wrestling sensation Steph De Lander wrote after seeing the photos: “Omg what the f***. Sending my love!!”

Her client in AEW, Andrade, also posted saying: “I hope you return soon, your health comes first!!! I know that you are a successful woman and you will be back soon!”

Perry only recently returned to wrestling by making a shock AEW debut back in September following her WWE release.

She continues to use the “hot and flexible” moniker in AEW, which is a nod back to when started selling “hot, flexible wife” content while on her break from wrestling .
