A West Country town has been slammed as “really grim” and put in a pile of the worst places in the UK.
A survey from Which? used scores from 9,000 visitors to rank smaller settlements and compile a list of the top 100 in the country. Second from last on that list was Cornwall’s Bodmin, securing 50% in the vote that encompassed food and drink, visitor attractions, scenery, general attractiveness, shopping and peace and quiet.
According to CornwallLive, Bodmin received two stars out of five for tourist attractions, one for attractiveness, and didn’t manage to bag any at all for food and drink. It’s not the first time Bodmin has been singled out either, with the settlement featuring in an episode ofTurdtownswhere the show’s narrator was far from kind about it.

He slammed it saying: "To smile would feel out of place in Bodmin," and described the houses as "vile rabbit hutches". The high street got it from Turdtowns too, which he described as "one of the most sorrowful high streets in existence."
He also noted about Bodmin that were its jail still open it would likely be busy.
Speaking about the survey with the Guardian, editor of Which?, Rory Boland, said: “From famed tourist towns to lesser-known villages, this year’s survey has captured the range of unique destinations the UK has to offer.
“While the picturesque south-west took the top spots, there are beautiful towns and villages in Wales and across England in the top 10 – meaning there is a fantastic place to visit on your doorstep no matter where you live.”
