Putin pal questions China ally as it’s ‘dangerous to replace America’ with them

A close informative of Vladimir Putin said that Russia’s reliance on its allyship with China could be ‘very dangerous’.

Vladimir Solovyov, a well known Russian propagandist, is a close ally to Putin and constantly shares his thoughts and opinions on the country’s political position.

Solovyov is a TV presenter on a channel called Russia-1, a state controlled media outlet. During his outspoken political commentary, he raised concerns over China.

Saturday (September 30) saw the release of the show posted by TheKremlinYap, a watch-dog account on X.

"It's dangerous to replace America with China," Solovyov said, translated by the account, "Thinking about it, it is very dangerous that we may come running from there to here. And just as we used to put all our eggs in the Anglo-Saxon basket, we may put them in the Chinese basket.”

"This is very dangerous. It is necessary [for our country] to finally recognize itself as a bear who loves its taiga and relies on its own strength. Formulate for itself, once and for all, its own national interests, identify enemies, and do not hesitate to call them enemies. Then, there will be no desire to merge with anyone.”

It is understood that Newsweek have reached out to Russian officials for comment on these claims, but there has been no response.

China and Russia have had a relationship throughout the Russian invasion of Ukraine, with Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping meeting weeks before the invasion and claiming they have a “friendship with no limits.”

While there appears to be a friendship between the countries, Beijing has claimed they are ‘neutral’ in their opinions on the war.

However, in July a strike on the city of Odesa in Ukraine saw a Chinese consulate building bearing the brunt of some of the attack. There were no injuries during this.

A statement from the Chinese Foreign Ministry was released at the time which stated that China will take “all measures necessary to keep Chinese institutions and nationals safe in Ukraine,"

Vladimir Solovyov appears to think this testing relationship should not be relied upon, as he revealed on his TV show.
