Met Office confirms exactly when and where Brits can expect snow this week
Brits are bracing for snow in the coming few days and weeks as temperatures plummet ahead of the Christmas period, according to the Met Office.
Regions on the North Sea coast including parts of Scotland and the northeast of England can expect snowfall from later this week, which is expected to continue into the weekend. The rest of the UK will see frosty conditions later in the week, with temperatures in the hills and glens in Scotland forecast to dip to as low as -8C.
Meanwhile in rural eastern England, the mercury could plummet to just -5C. Met Office Deputy Chief Meteorologist Dan Harris said: "After some rain on Monday, conditions will turn mainly dry in the south for a time before a very uncertain period on Thursday and Friday for the southern half of England and Wales. The weather models are highlighting several possible solutions from very wet to mainly dry, with a mainly dry picture the most probable outcome at present."

However, Harris added any snow would likely be short-lived. "Snow in any affected area is unlikely to be anything more than transient and short-lived, but it could lead to small totals and some disruption over a few hours before melting."
Weather maps from WXCharts show snow beginning tomorrow (Tuesday, November 28) in parts of central and northern Scotland. The images suggest pockets of snowfall will be seen across parts of England later in the week including Norfolk and the Midlands.

Meanwhile Oli Claydon, a spokesperson for the Met Office, also echoed this week's wintry forecast. Speaking to WalesOnline, he confirmed: "There will be snow showers but we are not likely to see significant accumulation on the ground," he said.
"We could see some snow moving into southeastern parts of the UK towards the end of the week, including Hampshire. However, it may also remain dry."
Exacta Weather's James Madden also agreed the "the first widespread snow showers of the season" could be falling soon, with millions expected to be hit.
"This is initially likely to see many parts of Wales, and southern/central England seeing their first major snow of the season within this period, and even to lower levels in these parts and into the capital of the country, as this area of low pressure clashes with the much colder airmass in place across our shores," he said.
