King Charles to hold meeting with Kate and William over future of monarchy’

King Charles is expected to hold a meeting with Prince William and Princess Kate to address the future of the monarchy.

The King of England's intentions while sat on the throne are set to be unveiled during a summit with the Prince and Princess of Wales, and their "star quality" appears essential.

Plans are likely in place to see the duo be at the heart of "cementing their own future", according to an unnamed source speaking to The Mirror.

Officials have since commented on the "star quality" of Kate Middleton and the objectives the King is hoping to distribute to the duo.

An insider said: "His Majesty is very clear. The Commonwealth must be at the very heart of his reign.

"He sees it as his utmost duty to fulfil the sincere wish of his late mother, that one of his central roles must be to ensure not only the survival but the robustness (of the organisation)."

With King Charles wanting to be at the heart of his reign, the insider believes William and Kate will then be "at the heart of cementing their own future and that of the monarchy at large".

Insiders are also claiming the King is keen to capitalise on the growing popularity of Kate, who has an "undoubted star quality".

An upcoming trip to Kenya for the King and Queen Camilla could see him utilise the "symbolism" which ran through his mother's legacy also.

A senior civil servant claimed he would "use the symbolism tied into his mother’s legacy to offer a hand of friendship, which might get harder as the years go by".

William and Kate may also be on hand to launch their own tours of the globe, but must be wary of the "complete catastrophe" which marked their Caribbean tour.

An insider added: "The Caribbean tour wasn’t a complete catastrophe, but it was a massive wake-up call. Simply turning up with a wave and a smile and a speech of friendship will not work any more."
