A French soldier has been killed during anti-terror operation targeting ISIS in Iraq.

The fatality is the third in 10 days, according to The ร‰lysรฉe Palace, France's presidential residence which issued a statement naming the soldier.

Sergeant Nicolas Mazier, an air force paratrooper, "fell in combat while carrying out his mission", the Palace confirmed on Tuesday.

President Emmanuel Macron has shared his "profound respect" for Mazier's "sacrifice".

Operation Chammal has seen France deploy around 600 soldiers in Iraq to help the country's army out fighting against extremist groups such as ISIS.

On Sunday, August 21 French military trainer Nicolas Latourte "lost his life while accomplishing his mission," Macron's office wrote on X.

Latourte's death was explained as happening during an "operational exercise" which involved instructing Iraqi troops.

The Ministry of the Armed Forces wrote: "In the evening, Adjutant Latourte was fatally wounded on the sidelines of an urban combat training exercise.

"He was immediately taken care of and transferred by helicopter to a military hospital in Erbil, where the medical team pronounced him dead."

Just a few days earlier another French soldier died in a road accident in Iraq.

Other breaking news to come out from around the world today includes the sentencing of a 32-year-old ISIS woman to 14 years in prison.

The unnamed sicko from Lower Saxony, Germany, was in her mid-20s when she fled to Iraq to join the extremist organisation.

During which time, she and her husband enslaved a Yazidi โ€“ native Kurdistan descent โ€“ and tortured her to death, watching on as she died of thirst in the blazing midday heat.

Around eight years on since her monstrous acts, the woman has been sent behind bars by a court in Munich for crimes against humanity.
