The Food Standards Agency has issued a recall notice, which stated that one particular batch of the £2 stuffing was contaminated by a “foreign body”.

The FSA confirmed it was due to the “presence of insects (moths)”, and it emphasised that the stuffing mix was “unsafe to eat”.

The mix has toasted ciabatta-style breadcrumbs, and the advertising blurb says it’s “made with extra virgin olive oil, croutons, dried sweetened cranberries and dried apples”.

Earlier this month, “do not eat” food warnings were issued by Tesco, Morrisons and Lidl after recalls of some meat, chocolate, cereal and veg were announced.

The items – which comprised Morrisons, Tesco and Lidl own-brand products as well as some Mars Wrigley ones – were pulled off the shelves after the FSA issued alerts over products including prawns, duck, chocolate, cereal and peas.

The warning said that some of the items might contain “sulphites, nuts, milk and gluten-free oats” which aren't mentioned on the labels.

Some might be contaminated with salmonella or an unknown type of berry, while one product was recalled after plastic was found in it and another after the discovery of “small pieces of rubber”.
