Maxine Carr is infamous for her involvement with vicious killer Ian Huntley, who brutally murdered schoolgirls Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman over 20 years ago.<\/p>\n
Holly and Jessica were on their way to buy sweets in their home village of Soham, Cambridgeshire when they vanished. Two weeks later on August 17, 2002, the 10-year-old\u2019s bodies were discovered in a ditch in a nearby woodland after being murdered by Ian Huntley.<\/p>\n
Details of the case have been retold in a Channel 5 dramatisation on Netflix. The series explores Carr\u2019s relationship with her abusive fianc\u00e9e and questions how much she knew about his crimes. <\/p>\n

Carr worked at the girl's school as a teaching assistant, while Huntley was employed as the school caretaker. The couple lived at the caretaker's residence and she gave him a false alibi when questioned by police.<\/p>\n
On the night of the murders, Carr was proven to be back at her home in Grimsby, where the couple had met. She was found not guilty of assisting in the murders, but she was jailed for three-and-a-half years for perverting the course of justice.<\/p>\n
After serving only half of her sentence, she was released from Foston Hall prison in Derbyshire in May 2004. Due to public hatred towards her, she was given a new identity.<\/p>\n

But she was still recognised, so she also had around-the-clock protection. In two years, she was moved to over 10 different safe houses, the Mirror reports.<\/p>\n
In 2011 she gave birth to her first child in a secret safe house. It's understood she soon after entered into a serious relationship with a partner who was aware of her past.<\/p>\n
Since 2014, she has reportedly been living in a quiet seaside town, which cannot be named for legal reasons. Carr was granted a lifetime anonymity order by the High Court, one of only four ever imposed.<\/p>\n

Others include James Bulger\u2019s murderers Robert Thompson and Jon Venables, and child killer Mary Bell.<\/p>\n
Carr, now 46 reportedly married her partner at a secret hotel while wearing a \u00a32,000 wedding dress. They then honeymooned at a family-friendly resort. Insiders claimed her husband was fully aware of who she is and was "absolutely besotted" with her.<\/p>\n
The Daily Mail reported that the news was a bitter pill to swallow for the victim's mothers, who will never see their daughters grow up and have the same experiences. A course told the publication: "The families of Holly and Jessica will never get to see their daughters marry. They will never get to enjoy their big day.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey have nothing to look forward to. Why should she?"<\/p>\n
The search for Holly and Jessica was one of the biggest the country has ever seen.<\/p>\n
