Lairy room occupants have been known to add "unmentionables" into kettles, the hotel workers claim.<\/p>\n
To help travellers get the most out of their holidays, travel experts at eShores talked to staff within the hospitality and tourism industry including waitresses, chefs, hotel receptionists and cleaners to uncover top insider tips to help you avoid a shocking and unpleasant stay \u2013 and hotel workers revealed you'll want to check your kettle before making a cuppa. <\/p>\n
It turns out that it's an item not checked daily by housekeeping \u2013 after all kettles don't need to be cleaned after each use. But, the professionals warned that you should never boil a hotel room kettle until you\u2019ve checked inside \u2013 you may not get the relaxing cuppa you expected! <\/u><\/u><\/p>\n

We've previously documented a number of minging uses for kettles in hotel rooms performed by guests. Some people choose to cook food in them \u2013 and we don't just mean instant noodles, but raw meat too! One bloke who wanted a cheap meal while away working decided to make chicken with garlic in a kettle. Yes, in the communal kettle inside his hotel room.<\/p>\n

Alexander C posted on Linkedin explaining: "I\u2019m travelling for work and instead of eating a fancy dinner out, I\u2019ve decided to cook a cheaper meal in the hotel room. Even though the hotel room didn\u2019t have a kitchen, I managed to use the coffee machine to cook chicken with butter and garlic.<\/p>\n
"Although my company allows me to expense dinner while travelling, I wanted to save money because I know that every dollar counts. It\u2019s the little things that get you promoted."<\/p>\n
Another tourist left Brits flabbergasted after sharing the unhygienic way he made his food while staying in a hotel. Sharing a snap on Reddit, the holidaymaker revealed that he was hungry after returning to his room from a music festival.<\/p>\n
He titled the image: "Hotel Coffee Maker Poached Beef Strips After Music Festival". In the image, half cooked strips of beef floated in the water inside the coffee maker\u2019s drawer. <\/p>\n

According to him, the staff were impressed by his ingenuity rather than disgusted. But, we have a feeling they'll have thrown it away sharpish as soon as he checked out. The pink strips turning grey will make you feel nauseous.<\/p>\n
But, it's not just making food and drink that gross guests use the kettle or coffee maker for. Some unsavoury characters have even used them as a miniature laundry device \u2013 to clean their dirty underwear (vom).<\/p>\n
One woman forgot to pack extra knickers on her holiday so she used a bizarre method to wash her dirty underwear. She even uploaded a snap of her lacy purple pants in the kettle on social media. <\/p>\n
Posting on Facebook, the anonymous woman said: "Staying in a hotel, that time of the month comes out of the blue. Forgot to pack knickers so came up with a good way to quickly wash them. The hotel kettle! Quick, fast and hygienic."<\/p>\n
Mini bars aren\u2019t safe, either apparently. One hotel worker recalls a guest urinating into a bottle from the mini bar and replacing the cap, only to be discovered when the next guest arrived and tried to take a drink! So, when it comes to drinks, check first \u2013 it\u2019s better to be safe than sorry.<\/p>\n
