A Frontier Airlines flight leaving Denver International Airport Tuesday evening had to return to DIA less than 30 minutes after it took off due to a “fume event” on board.

Frontier Flight 560, bound for Raleigh-Durham International Airport, took off from DIA at 6:42 p.m., according to the flight tracking site FlightAware, then made a loop back to DIA and landed at 7:10 p.m.

“Flight 560 bound for Raleigh-Durham with 160 passengers on board, experienced a fume event which prompted the flight crew to return the aircraft to Denver and request support from emergency medical personnel as a matter of precaution,” Jennifer F. de la Cruz, senior director of corporate communications for Frontier Airlines said in an emailed statement.

Medical professionals saw “a number of passengers and the flight crew,” de la Cruz said, but no one reported needing further medical treatment.

A replacement flight later took off for Raleigh-Durham just before 1 a.m. early Wednesday, according to FlightAware.

De la Cruz did not say what the “fume” was, and said they were still investigating the cause as of Wednesday morning.
