Get the biggest stories and wackiest takes from the Daily Star, including our special WTF Wednesday email<\/p>\n<p>We have more newsletters<\/p>\n<p>A UK town has been submerged in water after downpours caused horrific flash floods.<\/p>\n<p>The Met Office issued a rare amber weather warning earlier today affecting southwest England, and said two weeks of rain was due to fall in just one hour.<\/p>\n<p>Residents of the coastal Devon town of Dawlish have since shared shocking images of their town to social media, with its major roads overflowing with brown rainwater.<\/p>\n<p><b>READ MORE: Police arrest 228 after event turns into riot with cops attacked and at least 32 injured<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Forecasters warned the conditions could pose threats to human life and cause power cuts.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i2-prod.mirror.co.uk\/incoming\/article30963582.ece\/ALTERNATES\/s615b\/0_Flash-floods-leave-UK-town-under-water-as-Met-Office-issues-rare-amber-warning-BANNER.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>The amber warning was initially in place until 5.30pm today, while a yellow warning for thunderstorms lasted in the region until 6pm.<\/p>\n<p>Nearby Exeter Airport was also plunged into chaos as its terminal was flooded, prompting bosses to shut the hub and cancel several flights.<\/p>\n<p>A spokesman said: &quot;Following heavy rain today Exeter Airport has had to close due to flooding affecting the terminal.&quot;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i2-prod.mirror.co.uk\/incoming\/article30963525.ece\/ALTERNATES\/s615b\/0_Screenshot-2023-09-17-at-165622JPG.jpg\"><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<figure data-mod=\"image\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i2-prod.dailystar.co.uk\/incoming\/article30961363.ece\/ALTERNATES\/s458\/0_oral3.jpg\"><\/figure>\n<p> Tourist and woman may face jail over \u2018sex act\u2019 in front garden as they&apos;re caught on CCTV<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/s2-prod.mirror.co.uk\/@trinitymirrordigital\/chameleon-branding\/publications\/dailystar\/img\/logo-schema-dailystar.png\"><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Police are present at the scene of the floods and have cordoned off a section of road in a bid to protect residents.<\/p>\n<p>However cops slammed drivers recklessly taking to the roads \u2013 despite the Biblical deluge.<\/p>\n<p>One traffic officer said: &quot;The rain is so heavy it is forming small lakes on some stretches of the motorway, yet some drivers are still tearing along at over 70mph.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i2-prod.mirror.co.uk\/incoming\/article30963527.ece\/ALTERNATES\/s615b\/0_Flash-floods-hit-Dawlish-as-Amercoastal.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>&quot;They can&apos;t see ahead because of the blinding spray, and if they hit one of the sheets of water, their car will aquaplane and take off. It\u2019s a tragic accident waiting to happen.
