The Colorado Department of Transportation announced Tuesday that it will begin resurfacing an eastbound section of Interstate 70’s Vail Pass on Wednesday morning.<\/p>\n
Motorists should expect right lane and shoulder closures, as well as occasional off-ramp closures, between Copper Mountain and Frisco on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., according to a news release.<\/p>\n
Officials said the work could result in 10-20 minute traffic delays. The project is anticipated to be completed in November.<\/p>\n
According to the release, the project will improve 13 miles of deteriorated roadway on I-70’s eastbound right lane. The new asphalt will extend the life of the highway and will add more durability by increasing the resistance of ruts.<\/p>\n
This project is part of a larger series of pavement repairs conducted by CDOT in Colorado’s High Country addressing pavement conditions affected by winter snow and include 12 stretches of roadway across the state, three of which are along or near the I-70 Mountain Corridor.<\/p>\n
