Police in Pennsylvania have identified an escaped murderer described as being "extremely dangerous", travelling by car just 22 miles from the prison he escaped from 11 days ago.

Convicted killer Danelo Cavalcante, 34, was spotted in northern Chester County near Phoenixville according to a statement released early this morning by Pennsylvania State Police.

This follows several 'credible' sightings over the past few days, including a double sighting on Friday within a specified search area where over 400 officers are actively searching for him.

Cavalcante was convicted of first-degree murder last month after brutally killing his ex-girlfriend, Deborah Brandao, in front of her two children in 2021 – and is also wanted for a 2017 homicide case in his native Brazil.

Pennsylvania State Police Lt. Col. George Bivens, who is leading the manhunt, told reporters on Friday that there had been "eight or nine sightings of the fugitive since his escape."

"He is clean shaven and last seen wearing a yellow or green hooded sweatshirt, black baseball style hat, green prison pants, and white shoes," investigators added early this morning.

"He is operating an unknown vehicle, possibly white in color."

Footage of Cavalcante's escape on September 2 showed him scaling a prison wall before pushing through razor wire to gain access to the roof of the facility.

Initial inmate photos from Chester County Prison showed the man with a black moustache and beard.

But the latest doorbell camera images show that he is now clean-shaven, in an attempt to conceal his identity as the search approaches the fortnight mark.

He is the second inmate to escape from the prison this year and although the first escapee was caught in minutes, both used the same method to escape.
