{"id":118459,"date":"2023-08-26T21:41:32","date_gmt":"2023-08-26T21:41:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lasixlineon.com\/?p=118459"},"modified":"2023-08-26T21:41:32","modified_gmt":"2023-08-26T21:41:32","slug":"wetherspoons-to-build-new-boozer-in-old-strip-club-but-theres-a-catch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lasixlineon.com\/world-news\/wetherspoons-to-build-new-boozer-in-old-strip-club-but-theres-a-catch\/","title":{"rendered":"Wetherspoons to build new boozer in old strip club \u2013 but theres a catch"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A new Wetherspoons is set to open in an unlikely location \u2013 a former London strip club \u2013 and locals are not happy about it.<\/p>\n<p>Permission was on Thursday, August 17, granted by Camden Council for the pub chain to open The Captain Flinders, on Eversholt Street.<\/p>\n<p>The new boozer is set to open inside the venue of a former gentleman\u2019s club SophistiCats, although no date has yet been set.<\/p>\n<p><b>READ MORE: &apos;I went to the pub at 9am for Lionesses and free England shirt \u2013 no one else came&apos;<\/b><\/p>\n<p>SophistiCats shut in February 2022 when a customer complained they had lost \u00a350,000 in just two hours. <\/p>\n<p>It was said on Google reviews to have previously played host to &quot;extremely attractive girls&quot;, &quot;the most fabulous dancers&quot; and even &quot;the most beautiful girls in the world&quot;. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i2-prod.dailystar.co.uk\/incoming\/article30791006.ece\/ALTERNATES\/s615b\/2_Sophisticats-instagram.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>Work on the venue at Eversholt Street and Doric Way, near Euston Station, has been announced by the chain to begin on September 11.<\/p>\n<p>The new pub is expected by the chain to create 60 jobs and will be titled after Captain Flinders who was credited with naming Australia and whose remains were found nearby during work for HS2.<\/p>\n<p>Camden Council has approved opening times from 6.30am on Mondays to midnight on Mondays to Thursdays and until 1am on Fridays and Saturdays, with alcohol sold from 8am.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i2-prod.dailystar.co.uk\/incoming\/article30791003.ece\/ALTERNATES\/s615b\/1_Blonde-woman-in-bra-thong-and-stilettos-crouching-while-holding-onto-metal-pole-chairs-in-backgro.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>JD Wetherspoon chief executive John Hutson said: \u201cWe are looking forward to starting development work on the new pub.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are confident it will prove an asset to the area.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, concerns have been raised by locals about added noise in the area, especially over fears of it merging with the queues from nearby Roti King.<\/p>\n<p>Councillor Edmund Frondigoun told Wetherspoons: \u201cPlease treat it as a pub in a residential area, there is a very vibrant community here which needs to be respected as well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i2-prod.dailystar.co.uk\/incoming\/article30791004.ece\/ALTERNATES\/s615b\/0_Screen-Shot-2020-10-20-at-132854.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>JD Wetherspoon legal director Nigel Connor said in return: \u201cWe don\u2019t approach our venues on a cookie-cutter basis and we have experience of pubs in residential areas,\u201d adding trained door staff would be present.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is rare that we get complaints from residents \u2013 if they do arise, we take appropriate action.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><b><i>For more incredible stories from the Daily Star, make sure you sign up to one of our newsletters <\/i><\/b><b><i><u>here<\/u><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p>Source: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailystar.co.uk\/news\/latest-news\/wetherspoons-green-light-build-new-30790942\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Read Full Article<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A new Wetherspoons is set to open in an unlikely location \u2013 a former London strip club \u2013 and locals are not happy about it.
