The Met Office has said "hurricane season" could bring more scorching spells back to the UK later this year.<\/p>\n
However, the national weather agency also said there's a chance this week could be the last hot spell of the year.<\/p>\n
Conditions are expected to be pretty glum over the weekend and heading into the Bank Holiday, despite the 40C heatwave currently raging just over the channel in France.<\/p>\n

Met Office Deputy Chief Meteorologist Steven Keates said parts of the south should feel pleasant on Sunday (August 27), but added: "Showers are never too far away through the weekend."<\/p>\n

For Monday (August 28) – which is only a Bank Holiday in England, Wales and Northern Ireland – Keates said: "[We] will probably see band of showery rain clear from eastern England early in the day, with sunny spells and scattered showers following on for most places. <\/p>\n
"There are no signals for significant heat in the current forecast period."<\/p>\n
Thankfully there should still be some pleasantness about this week on Thursday (August 24).<\/p>\n
Met Office meteorologist Greg Dewhurst said highs of 27C can be expected on Thursday, which will be "<\/span>dry with sunny spells overall in the east and south of the country". <\/p>\n <\/p>\n He added: "I wouldn\u2019t rule out it being the last warm spell of the year."<\/p>\n However, hurricane season in the Atlantic will start to pick up later this month and typically peaks in September.
