Woman’s first words after man stabbed her in the head – leaving blades in skull
A heartbroken mum has revealed her daughter's first words after she was reportedly stabbed in the head with garden shears by a homeless man.
Kyli Watts, 24, was allegedly attacked around 11:30am in North Hollywood, California, on October 10 by Jonathan Cole who, police said, drove 4-inch blades into the back of her head.
Following the apparently unprovoked attack, Watts ran to a restaurant nearby with the shears still in place – although she was apparently unaware they were still stuck in her skull – and called 911 before FaceTiming her mother, Amy Watts.

The woman's mother told Fox LA: "I gave my typical 'Hey, what’s up, baby girl?' and the first words out of her mouth were, 'Mom, this is serious, I’ve been stabbed.'"
Watts was treated at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where medical staff had to leave a bone fragment in place after the shear shattered her skull as the injury was close to a major blood vessel.
The young woman, who was recently let go from a tech recruitment job, has since had surgery for a traumatic brain injury and is just beginning her long journey to recovery.
As she is not covered by health insurance, a GoFundMe has been set up to fund her medical expenses.

Amy said her daughter regularly gives money to fundraising campaigns, claiming she is usually the one “bawling” and “donating left and right.”
"And now she’s the recipient. It’s an interesting universal switch," the psychiatric nurse added.
"She’s going to come out of this stronger and with an incredible story."
Strangely, Amy and her daughter reportedly don't feel any anger towards Kyli's attacker.
“If this were a person with epilepsy that had not taken their medication and had a seizure at the wheel and hit your child crossing the street, would you really be angry, or do you understand that that’s a person with an illness?” Amy explained, adding that her family have experience with the severely mental ill.
“That’s what we’re dealing with here.
“To become numb and callous to it is not the right answer. These things are occurring because of systemic failure in treating mental illness."

Cole is reportedly being held on $3 million bail and faces an attempted murder charge and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon.
He is due in court on October 25 and in the meantime is in custody at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility, records show.
