UK weather warning: Big FREEZE to hit Britain as temperatures plunge to -4C halting spring
Despite the UK heading towards spring, temperatures are set to plunge to as low as -4C (24.8F) in some areas of the country over the next few days. Although there are no snow warning in places, temperatures for large parts of Scotland, northern England and Wales will struggle to surge beyond zero.
In graphs produced by weather forecaster, WX Charts, temperatures will approach -4C (14F) in some areas.
The cold weather will hit the country heading into the weekend, with the Met Office warning temperatures will “continue to drop” day by day.
Commenting on the weather forecast on Friday, Met Office meteorologist, Aidan McGivern warned of a “frosty start” to the morning.
He added: “The most likely outcome for Friday is that it’s a frosty start.
“There will be plenty of sunshine a bit more cloud coming into Eastern Counties of Scotland and eastern parts of England as well.
“Perhaps a few showers and again.”
Due to the influx of rain combined with the drop in temperatures, Mr McGivern also warned of “rain or hail” on lower levels of the country.
Mr McGivern also warned there could be the chance of “snow over the hills”.
