Terrifying 4ft python came out of drain in ‘the stuff nightmares are made of’

A Canadian police force shared their shock after discovering a large python hanging on a sewer grate.

The four-foot python was described as “the stuff nightmares are made of” after York Regional Police made their terrifying discovery.

As to why the python was found seemingly perched on top of a Markharm sewer grate remains unknown.

York Regional Police tweeted: ““@YRP has seen its share of slippery suspects, but we weren’t about to let this serpent snake away on Sunday.

The post continued: “Officers carefully removed the four-foot python from a sewer and kept it until it could be rehomed by @cityofmarkham animal services.”

The tweet was accompanied with a picture showing a brown and yellow snake with its body wrapped around the grate.

It appears next to what looks like an old carton of President’s Choice pineapple juice.

Since pythons do not deliver a deadly venom, they are not deemed a major threat to humans.

There are only two potential risks of hazard from pythons – getting bitten by their razor-sharp teeth and being constricted by the beast.

In 2002, a 10-year-old boy was reportedly swallowed by a rock python in Sulawesi, South Africa.

And in March last year – also in Sulawesi – a farmer was swallowed by a 7m-long python.

Twitter users saw the funny side to the discovery by police with one user reassuring the snake was a harmless ball python which are often homed as pets.

“Please please please tell me RTOC has audio of the officers calling in a Snake on Drain,” tweeted one user with a photo of Samuel Jackson presumably from the movie Snakes on a Plane.

“48-inch python right there brother,” another wrote along with a wrestling photo of a wide-eyed and sweaty Hulk Hogan.

Others however voiced their concern for the animal.

“Please surrender your pets if you can’t care for them,” one person tweeted.

“This poor guy wouldn’t have survived the winter if he stayed outside.”
