Temperatures set to plummet as Brits warned of weekend washout and stormy winds
Brits have been warned to brace themselves for a washout as high winds and torrential rain batter the UK.
Temperatures are set to plummet to 1C in parts of the country while winds of up to 60mph keep the weather feeling wintry.
Much of the UK will be dry and mild today, but Saturday is forecast to see wild weather moving eastwards across the west of England, Wales and Scotland.
The Met Office has also warned of heavy rain on Sunday following days of unsettled weather.
There is a potential for weather warnings on the cards after days of heavy rain brought further flooding misery to parts of Wales and southwest England.

Met Office meteorologist Emma Salter said: "Friday night we will see a band of rain coming into the west, moving eastwards.
"That doesn't look too heavy but on Saturday morning the wind will pick up.
"Western regions could see gusts of up to 50mph or 60mph over higher ground.

"I wouldn't rule out a warning being issued for the weekend through Saturday night and Sunday."
The lowest temperatures will be in Scotland, with snow expected in high areas.
Parts of southern England will see the mildest weather this weekend, with highs of 11C in parts.

Alex Deakin from the Met Office said for Saturday: "A wet start for much of Scotland with snow on the hills and we will see these showery outbreaks of rain drifting into eastern England during Saturday morning.
"Then we have the next weather system — more cloud, more rain, more strengthening gusty winds coming into western Scotland and Northern Ireland during Saturday afternoon.
"Sunday stays breezy, relatively mild to begin with. Potential for some heavy rain on Sunday but the exact location of that rain there's some uncertainty about that."

The Environment Agency has 134 flood alerts in place as well as a further 44 flood warnings.
Monday is set to see a cold start to the day, although it will otherwise be mainly dry and bright.
Some rain is expected in northwest England later on Monday.
