Rotting human foot found on beach by horrified tourists as probe launched

Holidaymakers were left horrified after the rotting remains of half a human foot washed up on a popular tourist beach in Bali.

The grim discovery was made near Berawa Beach, a trendy hotspot in Canggu, on Monday.

Stumped detectives are now probing where the foot washed in from.

The severed limb was first found by a beachgoer, according to local reports.

It is understood that the grisly find was of half a foot with blackened, decaying toes.

North Kuta sub precinct chief Marzel Doni told Coconuts Bali that it was hard to tell how old the remains are.

He said: “We are still looking into it. We don’t know the cause, or who it belongs to.

“There’s a possibility that it’s old, and it’s only one part so we can’t be certain yet and we will take it to the hospital.

“Whether or not it’s actually a human foot. We are going to confirm it first.”

Some beachgoers have speculated that the lone limb could have been the result of a shark attack – while others think it was amputated and somehow made its way into the water.

The rotting foot has yet to be linked with any missing people, police said.

Detectives have urged anyone with any information to come forward.

The severed foot remains was undergoing an examination at a Bali hospital on Wednesday, Mail Online reports.

Police have interviewed dozens of witnesses who were on the busy tourist beach when the grim discovery was made.

A post on social media of the decaying body part has since been shared hundreds of times.
