President Joe Biden’s pet dogs banned from White House for ‘biting’ staff
US President Joe Biden's dogs have been banned from the White House for allegedly biting a security guard.
The two German shepherds were removed from the presidential grounds last week after one of them reportedly attacked the White House security officer.
Three-year-old Major, who was adopted by the president in November 2018, is believed to have bitten the unidentified victim last week, whose condition is unknown, CNN reports.
According to the US news network, sources revealed the pooch is understood to have a history of aggressive behaviour, including jumping, barking, and "charging" at staff and security.
The pet pair, which also includes Champ, 13, have moved back to the Bidens' family home in Delaware in the US.
President Biden, a known dog lover, told media on Valentine's Day last month he was advised to get a younger dog as a companion for the ageing Champ.
"We got Major, he's a rescue dog. We asked the vet, 'What can we do to keep Champ going?' and he said, 'Get him a young dog.' They're buddies," he said while walking the pair on the White House's North Lawn.
The dogs arrived at the White House in January – less than a week after Biden was inaugurated.
During an interview with talk show host Kelly Clarkson last month, First Lady Jill Biden said his pets had struggled to acclimatise to the sudden change of routine and public gaze.

"I've been getting obsessed with getting our dogs settled because we have an old dog and we have a very young dog.
"They have to take the elevator. They're not used to that. And they have to go out on the South Lawn with lots of people watching them. So that's what I've been obsessed with, getting everybody settled and calm."
She added that the pets were not allowed on furniture, though she admitted Major had been caught lying on a couch.
"They run all over," she said.
In November, the president suffered hairline fractures in his foot and was forced to wear a medical boot following another incident involving Major.
Speaking about the injury to CNN, he said: "What happened was I got out of the shower. I got a dog and anybody who's been around my house knows dropped, little pup dropped a ball in front of me, and for me to grab the ball.
"And I'm walking through this little alleyway to get to the bedroom, and I grabbed the ball like this and he ran. And I'm joking, running after him and grab his tail. And what happened was that he slid on a throw rug, and I tripped on the rug he slid on."
