Meghan Markle missing King’s coronation is ‘brilliant strategy,’ expert claims

Meghan Markle's decision to not attend the coronation of King Charles III was deemed a "brilliant strategy" by a royal expert.

The Duchess of Sussex will not be present at the May 6 royal service, although Prince Harry confirmed he would make an appearance at the slimmed-down event.

Meghan will instead remain in California, United States, and celebrate young son Archie's fourth birthday back home, which falls on the same day as coronation celebrations.

Although the Duke of Sussex will be absent for his youngster's fourth birthday, an expert has since claimed Harry would have "deeply regretted" ruling out an appearance at his father's big day.

Sussex biographer Omid Scobie later claimed Archie's birthday had influenced Meghan's decision to stay behind, with the expert believing it "played a factor" in her decision.

Fellow expert Kristen Meinzer, speaking to Insider, said the Sussex duo had made a "brilliant" decision that splits the everyday tasks between them.

Expert Meinzer said: "I think the decision for Harry to go, and for Meghan to stay home with the children on Archie's birthday is a brilliant way to split the difference.

"As I've said in the past, the primary benefit of attending is the optics; of looking as though they're continuing to do their best on their end — even if the royal family isn't always doing their best on their end."

  • King Charles officially richer than the Queen as huge fortune calculated

Despite that, Meinzer believes the Sussex duo will do "what's best for their own little family and their own mental health".

The pair appear to have done so, with the expert adding that the split of coronation and family duties sounded as though Harry and Meghan were looking after themselves.

Harry is set to mark his first appearance in public alongside Prince William, Camilla Parker Bowles and King Charles since publishing his bombshell autobiography, Spare.

An expert speaking to The Daily Star has since predicted the Duke will receive a "frosty reception" and the day may be "very awkward" for all involved.
