John Getty was found dead with eyes open in ‘Indian style’ sitting pose
The heir to the £3.7billion Getty oil fortune died in an ‘Indian style’ sitting pose in front of his laptop, according to reports.
John Gilbert Getty, the grandson of oil tycoon J Paul Getty, is said to have been found dead with both his eyes and mouth open, aged 52.
The musician’s body was discovered by workers at the luxury Hotel Emma in San Antonio, Texas in the US last month.
An autopsy is yet to take place although foul play is not suspected.
His death was the latest in a long line of tragedies to hit the family, whose fortune is estimated to be worth $5billion (£3.7billion).
A hotel employee claimed he entered the room on November 20 as it had passed the check out time and they couldn’t get hold of him, MailOnline reports.
He discovered him “cold to the touch” on the bed but couldn’t wake him up, according to a police report.
The San Antonio Police Department document says Getty was “found upstairs lying back on some pillows from an Indian style sitting position on his bed in front of his laptop”.
He “had his glasses in his left hand, eyes were open, mouth was open”.
But the report said there were no signs of foul play and everything appeared neat and orderly.
He was pronounced dead shortly after 12.30pm that day.

His personal assistant reportedly told police he last received a text from him the day before he died.
Getty is said to have been in the middle of moving from California to San Antonio.
The police document also reportedly refers to a phone contact of Getty.
He was saved in his mobile under ‘ICE’ – a street name commonly used for the drug crystal meth – but the contact said he hadn’t talked to Getty in years, according to reports.

His death was confirmed last month by a spokesperson for his composer dad, Gordon Getty.
The spokesperson said: “John leaves behind his daughter, Ivy Getty, whom he loved beyond measure, and his brothers Peter and Billy.
"His brother, Andrew, predeceased John.
"John's mother, Ann Gilbert Getty, passed this September. John was a talented musician who loved rock and roll.
"He will be deeply missed.”
The family once held the largest private fortune in America due to the oil money.
His daughter Ivy wrote: “My father was awesome- coolest man to ever land on this planet and I will forever be the proudest daughter.
"Love you so much Dad… life is cruel sometimes… I have not one, but two guardian angels watching over me now.."
