Hero dad dies saving his son from brutal gang who knifed him on motorbike

A dad has tragically died after coming to his son's rescue as he was pursued by a gang of teenagers.

Motorist Amnat, 43, was racing after a group of lads who slashed his son with a knife, when he lost control of his car and crashed into a tree at 3.30am on Monday (December 5).

The heartbreaking smash on Liap Klong Song Road in Pathum Thani, Thailand, came just moments after the gang chased Amnat's son on his motorbike and slashed his leg with a knife.

A rescue team and officers from Klong Luang Police Station responded to reports of the crash and managed to pull out three passengers alive, using a metal cutting machine.

The hunt is still on to catch the gang who threatened 17-year-old Phon before attacking him on the road, The Thaiger reports.

According to the police, Phon called his dad to pick him up from a mate's house after receiving a chilling threatening message from a local teenage gang.

Amnat pulled up to the house with Phon's girlfriend and two pals Siriporn, 19, Sunita, 19 and 22-year-old Chayanon and decided to escort the lad home via the police station.

Phon, who didn't want to abandon his motorcycle at his friend's house, rode in convoy to his dad when three thugs caught up with them on two bikes of their own.

They got close enough to the 17-year-old's left leg to slash it with a knife.

Having witnessed the attack, Amnat hoped to prevent a repeat so followed the gang to chase them away but ended up careering into a roadside tree.

The knifemen fled the scene but police have questioned Phon and his friends to get to the bottom of who they are and what they wanted.

Security cameras along the road and surrounding areas would be checked as part of the investigation, police said.
