Tributes have poured in after a British man serving in the Israeli Army was killed in an attack by Hamas.
Corporal Nathanel Young was just 20 when he lost his life today (Sunday, October 8). Young was a soldier in the 13th Battalion, the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) revealed following his death.
Taking to Facebook, the soldier's family said the news had left them "heartbroken". "Our little brother Nathanel Young was tragically killed on the Gaza Border yesterday," the post read.

In another tribute, Young's family added: "Nathanel was full of life and the life of the party โ he carried the nickname DJ on base and at Benji's house, the lone soldier house that he lived at.
"He loved his family and friends and was loved by everyone. He loved music and was a talented DJ.
"Always willing to go to any lengths for his loved ones. An amazing uncle and brother. He was so happy and thriving in Israel. He loved the country."
Young grew up in London and had been a pupil at JFS, a Jewish comprehensive school in the north of the capital. The Jewish News reported he had moved to Israel and was living in the city of Ra'anana at the time of his death.

Young is one of at least 400 killed so far after terrorist group Hamas launched an attack on Israel at dawn yesterday (Saturday, October 8). More than 2,000 people have also been injured in the onslaught.
Hamas claim some 5000 rockets were launched from Gaza at settlements across the country, while other estimates put the figure closer to 2200. Gunmen also stormed the country via Gaza after bulldozing a section of metal fencing separating the two countries.
A number of hostages have been taken and several people have been reported missing, including another Brit living in Israel. Jake Marlowe, another former JFS pupil who relocated to the city of Ma'alot two years ago, hasn't been heard from since 5.30am Saturday after Hamas stormed a festival where he was working.
Hamas' military chief, Mohammed Deif, said: "This is the day of the greatest battle to end the last occupation on earth" and called for militants to "set the earth on fire under the feet of the occupiers".
In response, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared a state of war and promised to fight back against the attacks. "I tell Hamas, you are responsible for the wellbeing of captives, Israel will settle the score with anyone who harms them," he said.
"What happened today has never been seen in Israel, we will take mighty vengeance for this black day.
"All the places that Hamas hides in, operates from, we will turn them into rubble," he added.
