Harry and Meghan break silence on ‘fake’ press intrusion pic in Netflix trailer

The Sussexes use of a so-called "fake" image in their upcoming Netflix documentary trailer has been defended by representatives of the pair.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's bombshell documentary is set to release on the streaming giant as the Sussexes look set for a busy few months.

But imagery used in the documentary trailer appears to have been falsified, with a spokesperson for the pair coming out and saying the use of fake images is "standard practice", Daily Express reported.

A source familiar to the making of the documentary has further explained that the Sussex duo do not have control over the editing choices made in the trailer.

Upon release, the trailer was peppered with criticism from fuming Royal Family fans, with numerous scenes picked apart for their out of context appearances.

Shots of Prince Harry at events where the Royal Family were not even present are used to display the press pack and photography issues the Duke of Sussex has.

One instance used in the documentary shows Harry years before he and wife Meghan Markle had met, with the Duke spotted at a Harry Potter film premiere back in 2011.

The unnamed source said that the images are not meant to be "literal" and instead are there to "tell" a story for the trailer.

They added: "You use stock images to tell a story. It's not meant to be literal in a trailer."

Even then, the insider revealed that utilising stock images for trailer pieces was "standard practice in documentary and trailer production."

Although the documentary is yet to release, swirling rumours of what it will focus on have been discussed, with the first three episodes of the Harry and Meghan led piece set for release on December 8.

A "second volume" is set for release on December 15, according to a Netflix trailer released yesterday.
