Gypsy king Paddy Doherty’s son left with brain bleed after ‘mugging’

Big Fat Gypsy Wedding star Paddy Doherty has claimed his son was left in hospital with a bleed on the brain following a violent mugging in Wales.

The former Celebrity Big Brother winner, 61, said his son was beath up for his jewellery in a shocking assault in Llangefni on Anglesey last Saturday.

He said the incident took place close to the Market Vault Pubs in Bulkley Square in the town centre.

Gypsy king Paddy has told how he "thanks God" his son Simey survived the incident which saw him rushed to a trauma unit in Stoke-on-Trent at the weekend.

In a Facebook video, Paddy, who lives in a caravan park in Queensferry, Scotland, described the torment he went through when he heard what had happened to his son.

Posting the video, he wrote on Facebook: "Kind words prayers for my son Simey Doherty I really appreciate it god bless you all and please god may my son pull through."

NorthWalesLive quotes Paddy: "He got mugged for his watch and a ring, a diamond ring and a watch, but they couldn't get the ring off his fingers as his fingers had swelled.

"But they got his watch which you can always replace that, you can always replace value, anything that has value you can replace, but you can't replace life."

He added: "We thought I was going to lose my son. I give thanks and prayers to God, thanks God for not taking my son.

"I am lucky to have my son back."

The former bare-knuckle boxer also expressed his shock that his son was attacked for his watch, exclaiming: "Isn't it a shame when you cant wear jeweller."

He added that his son had suffered a bleed on the brain in three places and had phoned his dad telling him he thought he was going to die.

But it is understood he has received treatment at hospital and was later discharged.

Paddy went on: "Life is so short, enjoy it while you can.

"Thank god, my Jesus, he was bleeding on the brain in three places, but he's great now, thank God and I give thanks and prayers to God."

North Wales Police confirmed that they were called to an incident of "public disorder" near Market Vault Pubs at 9.40pm on Saturday, August 22.
