GOP businessman Tim Reichert enters 7th Congressional District race

Republican businessman and economist, Tim Reichert, put his hat into the ring this week for the 7th Congressional District seat held by outgoing Rep. Ed Perlmutter.

Reichert, who lives in Golden, heads up Economics Partners, a management consulting firm based in Denver.

The 7th Congressional District, which was redrawn last year for the November election but is still anchored in Jefferson County, is projected to favor Democrats slightly at the ballot box and so far State Sen. Brittany Pettersen has announced her intention to run on the Democratic side.

There are two other Republicans in the race to date: Erik Aadland and Laurel Imer.

Reichert, in a campaign ad announcing his candidacy, said he wants to go to Congress with the American Middle Class Restoration Act in hand.

“Joe Biden cannot get us out of this rut,” Reichert said in the video.

The Republican primary in Colorado is June 28.
