Festive Grinch thief caught on camera nicking Christmas decorations from gardens

People who've started putting their Christmas decorations up have had them taken right back down again thanks to a heartless thief.

The callous Christmas criminal has been caught on camera in the Derby suburb of Normanton and Sunny Hill ripping ornamental features out of lawns, even cutting wires to rapidly remove festive lights.

Derby woman Nickola Mosley became the reindeer robber’s first victim when festive lights, worth £49.99, were taken from her front garden at 9.52am on December 1.

A few hours later, at 9.36pm, a man was caught on camera on nearby Kitchener Avenue cutting the power cable for a Christmas tree light display.

After snipping the wire, the thief then tries to remove the entire display but it’s fixed too firmly in place and after struggling with it for a short time he flees the scene.

Then, on Monday, December 5, at around 2.30pm, the Ring doorbell camera mounted outside a home in Sunny Hill captured a man who was enjoying a cigarette as he carried out the lightning theft of some decorative candy canes right outside a front door.

The candy canes were gone in just 10 seconds.
