El Chapo’s beauty queen wife celebrates prison release in style at LA nightclub
The beauty queen wife of the notorious crime boss El Chapo is celebrating her recent release by partying in nightclubs.
Emma Coronel was freed on Wednesday after serving two years for drug trafficking and money laundering. Coronel, the third wife of the drug kingpin Joaquin 'El Chapo' Guzmán, was placed under house arrest and served two-thirds of her sentence.
Celebrating her newfound freedom, the beauty queen took to clubbing in LA, US, to reclaim what she’s missed out on over the last 24 months. According to reports she attended an event at a venue known as El Farallon, held by her attorney, Mariel Colón Miró – who's now a singer.

The 29-year-old attorney performed for her client under the stage name ‘La Abogada’ – which translates to the attorney, according to the Daily Mail. Miró joined El Chapo’s legal team in 2017 and has had other notable clients including convicted child sex trafficker Jeffery Epstein before he committed suicide.
Coronel was released from the halfway house in California and will be on supervised release for the next four years, according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons. The 34-year-old married the cartel leader when she was just a teenager. She was sentenced to three years in prison by a US judge in November 2021.
During her trial, prosecutors and her defence lawyers said Coronel was not involved in the core business of Guzman's Sinaloa Cartel, which shipped hundreds of tons of cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine and other drugs into the United States.
“The defendant's actual role was a minimal one,” prosecutor Anthony Nardozzi said. "The defendant was not a leader, organizer, boss or other type of manager.'Rather she was a cog in a very large wheel of a criminal organization.”

Coronel ultimately pleaded guilty to multiple federal drug charges – including conspiring to distribute heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine and marijuana. The young woman admitted to helping her husband move at least 450 kilograms of cocaine, 90 kilograms of heroin and nearly 90,000 kilograms of marijuana into the US.
Former beauty queen Coronel was arrested in February 2021 at Dulles International Airport. She was transported from a federal prison in Texas to the halfway house in Long Beach in June.
