Dad who went to hospital with slight temperature put in coma and lost 2 limbs
A dad who went to hospital with a “slight temperature’’ ended up fighting for his life in a coma and losing two limbs to sepsis.
Junaid Ahmed was admitted for what he thought was bad flu but collapsed as he waiting to be seen.
Doctors quickly diagnosed sepsis – which had caused his liver, heart and lungs to fail – and placed him in an induced coma.

The father of two woke up six weeks later to be told he would need to have his right calf, left forearm and left toes amputated.
Junaid said: “I’d had a temperature for a couple of days and it wasn’t going away.
“The last thing I remember is having something to eat with my wife as we waited to be seen.
“Waking up six weeks later, terrified and confused, was the biggest shock of my life..”
He told doctors to “do whatever they could. I just wanted to live for my family”.
The 35-year-old had major amputation surgery and spent more than eight months in hospital recovering.

With regular physio and a prophetic leg, he was able to walk back into his home.
He is now trying to raise £100k for a bionic arm so that he can hug his children again.
Junaid, of Ilford, East London, added; “My wife, Rabia, has been my rock through it all.”
