Covid-19-hit Nadine Dorries warns Brits ‘every lift button’ could give virus
Coronavirus-stricken Health Minister Nadine Dorries has warned Brits they could be infected by every lift button and coffee cup they touch.
Speaking days after catching deadly Covid-19, she told how she was diagnosed with the virus despite not going abroad or having direct contact with a victim.
She wrote in the Sunday Times: “The elderly are the most at risk and the most vulnerable.
"Regard everything you touch outside the home as being contaminated: every lift button, shopping-trolley handle, wait-button on a zebra crossing — and every cup in a cafe.
"Wash your hands for 20 seconds.
"Carry hand-sanitiser and use it over and over. Resist the urge to hug or shake hands with anyone."
She added: "The majority of people will be infected with COVID-19, but they will recover without experiencing significant discomfort.
"Some people may catch it and not even know they have it."

Coronavirus: Hospitals could run out of crucial oxygen 'in hours not days'
A total of 1,372 others have been infected across the UK – with 35 deaths.
Last night the devastated wife of the youngest Brit killed by coronavirus so far cried "I've lost my soulmate" as the deadly bug snatched him from her at the age of just 59.
Ex-copper Nick Matthews is the first person in the UK aged under 60 to be killed by coronavirus after he was rushed to hospital with pneumonia and other symptoms on Thursday.
His heartbroken wife Mary, 55, also told of how she just wants a "hug" from her son, who she described as a "big character".
Speaking from where her family is self-isolating after the death of the dad-of-two, Mary said: "Today at 3am I lost my life partner and soul mate but most of all my best friend.
"At no point did I realise how serious it was, even when we all had to gown up in the hospital, I just thought it was overcaution – as far as we were concerned we hadn’t been in contact with anyone with coronavirus and no-one in this area had contracted the disease.
"Together with our children Charlotte and Ben we are beyond proud to have had such a big character in our lives.
"It is a time when you want a hug but can’t have one.”
