Colorado’s largest police union endorses Donald Trump for president

Colorado’s largest police union on Friday endorsed President Donald Trump for a second term.

The Colorado State Lodge of the Fraternal Order of Police voted to endorse the president during a national meeting of the police union. Every other statewide unit also voted in support of the president, national Fraternal Order of Police spokeswoman Jessica Cahill said.

The national organization has several large units in Colorado, including in the Aurora Police Department, the Denver Sheriff Department and the Colorado State Patrol. There are about 8,000 Fraternal Order of Police members in Colorado, according to the group’s website.

The union’s national president, Patrick Yoes, cited Trump’s support for law enforcement in his comments on the endorsement.

The Colorado FOP as well as the Denver Police Protective Association, which represents Denver’s police officers, also endorsed Trump during the 2016 elections.
