Colorado State Patrol looking for driver in fatal hit-and-run crash

Two people died in a hit-and-run crash Friday on U.S. Highway 287 north of Longmont and investigators are asking for the public’s help in locating the driver who fled.

The crash happened around 5 p.m. and road rage is suspected in the four-vehicle incident, according to the Colorado State Patrol.

Witnesses told investigators that drivers of two vehicles, a dark red or maroon pickup truck and a Chevrolet Camaro, were possibly road-raging prior to the crash, the CSP said.

The pickup truck collided with the left side of the Camaro, spinning the coupe into oncoming traffic where it was hit on the passenger side by a northbound Toyota Tundra. Two people in the Camaro died at the scene. The driver of the Tundra was seriously injured and taken to a hospital. The driver of the maroon pickup truck fled.

Anyone with information on the crash, or on the suspect driver, is asked to call the state patrol at 303-239-4501.
