Newly-appointed Queen Consort Camilla Parker Bowles is said to have "first choice" over the clothes and jewels of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.

The Queen, who passed away at the age of 96, is said to have bequeathed the majority of her jewels and attires to the Royal Family, with Kate Middleton set to receive the bulk of these items.

But before the Princess of Wales can take a peek at the lavish rings and gowns, the new Queen Consort has "first choice" over what she claims.

Items from the personal collection are set to be split, with the "lion's share" going to Kate Middleton.

Majesty Magazine editor-in-chief Ingrid Seward said that the late monarch will have "sorted and organised" who receives which items a long while ago.

Seward, speaking to DailyMail added: "I imagine Her late Majesty's personal jewellery will be given to various members of her family. The Princess of Wales as the future Queen receiving the lion's share.

"There are pieces which will remain for use of the reigning monarch's wife – in this case Camilla. She will need a large collection to support her constitutional role."

Not every item will be claimed by living members of the Royal Family, though, as another expert, Christine Ross, explained.

Expert Ross said that some items would be "preserved for historical purposes" and "placed on display."

Certain jewellery items have been reserved for particular royals, with Camilla inheriting the Queen Mother's Diamond Thistle Brooch, with the Queen Consort seen wearing the piece at Elizabeth II's coffin procession and vigil.

Kate Middleton and daughter Princess Charlotte were also spotted paying tribute to the late monarch, with a necklace owned by the Queen worn by the Princess of Wales.

Princess Charlotte was also spotted sporting a horse buckle broach on her lapel in honour of the Queen.
