Sun-soaked party city has 33C temperatures and ‘cheapest beer in the world’

Getting a round in can feel very expensive nowadays.

ONS data reveals the average price of a pint has risen to £4.57 in the UK this year, which is a whopping 127% higher than the world average. So why not jet off abroad to get boozy instead?

Vietnam is a great destination for affordable bevs – and is often considered to have the "cheapest beer in the world". Hanoi sells draught lager for as little as 16p a glass – and large bottles tend to be less than a quid too.

Craft beer is huge in Vietnam and you'll find plenty of tiny microbreweries when wandering the streets. Some of the most famous exports include Pasteur Street Brewing Company, Heart of Darkness and East West Brewing Company.

Tourists love visiting beer street in the old quarter of Ta Hien, which is a unique blend of Asian and Eastern cultures. Many choose to sit out on the street and soak up the good vibes with a cool glass of Bia Hoi in hand.

Ta Hien is known for its lively night life, bustling atmosphere and delicious street food. Popular delicacies include spring rolls, a Vietnamese noodle soup called pho and banh mi sandwiches.

Beer and good food isn't the only thing Hanoi has to offer either – as it's a cultural hotspot.

There's a cathedral, plenty of temples, museums and even an opera house. And if you're interested in history, visiting the Hao Lo Prison or Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum are a must.

What's more, Hanoi is only a drive away from Ha Long Bay. In less than three hours, you can reach the UNESCO World Heritage Site with its famous limestone karsts and islets.

You can go kayaking and swimming in the bright blue waters during a day trip or let the gentle waves rock you to sleep during a cruise tour instead.

Flights from London to Hanoi can be snapped up for less than £300. The journey takes around 12 hours when you fly directly.

Accommodation is very affordable too. By using, you can find "superb" hotels and places to stay for just £10 a night.
