Frontier Airlines adds 8 new routes, including 6 from Atlanta
Atlanta was the big winner as Frontier Airlines announced eight seasonal nonstop routes Tuesday.
Three other cities — Philadelphia; Portland, Maine; and Providence, Rhode Islands — also landed multiple routes.
From Atlanta, Frontier will add six routes to its existing schedule, giving the carrier a total of 22 nonstop destinations from the city. The Atlanta expansion comes just two months after Frontier said it would open a crew base there by the end of the year. In Philadelphia, Frontier said the new service would give it a total of 25 seasonal or year-round routes.

Frontier’s new flights come as U.S. airlines have begun rebuilding their schedules after dramatic cuts at the outset of the pandemic. Now, with leisure flyers leading a recovery air travel, carriers have been particularly bullish on outdoor destinations that allow for social distancing.
Portland and Providence — which landed service from both Atlanta and Philadelphia in Tuesday’s announcements — check that box. Portland is near popular outdoor destinations along Maine’s coast. Similarly, Providence is one of the gateway airports for Cape Cod in neighboring Massachusetts as well as for other destinations in New England.
All eight of Frontier’s latest routes will launch in June or July and are currently planned as seasonal offerings that will run into early or mid-fall.
