How to check if you’re eligible for Colorado’s $1 million COVID vaccine drawing

Coloradans wondering whether they are eligible for the $1 million prizes being offered to people who have received a COVID-19 vaccine can check their status using the state’s immunization database.

Colorado will give $1 million prizes to five winners — for a total giveaway of $5 million — as part of an incentive to get more people inoculated against the coronavirus.

The first award will be given to a lucky winner Friday, with the rest being handed out each week through June 25. The final winner will be announced July 7.

People don’t have to sign up for the drawings, as they will be based on the state’s vaccination records. Coloradans can look up their COVID-19 vaccination records using the Colorado Immunization Information System database, or CIIS.

If a person does not find their record via the database it does not mean they are not in the system. Their information may have just been entered differently by their vaccine provider, according to the state health department.

More than 5.7 million COVID-19 doses have been entered into the database. If a person has trouble finding their information they can contact their vaccine provider to find out how it was entered or contact the CIIS Help Desk at 303-692-2437, a spokesperson for the agency said in an email.

People who get vaccinated in June are still eligible for the drawings.

Winners must be 18 years or older. They will be chosen via a drawing run by the Colorado Lottery.
